2021 Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix Preview
This weekend sees Formula 1 throne to Mexico for the latest round of the 2021 Grand Prix season.
Max Verstappen heads the drivers’ championship and is 12 points well-spoken of title rival Lewis Hamilton inward the race weekend. This is without Verstappen write-up Hamilton to victory last time out at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
Completing the top three in the suburbanite standings is Valtteri Bottas who is 35 points well-spoken of fourth placed Sergio Perez. This is without Bottas finished sixth last time out while Perez enters his home Grand Prix off the when of his fourth podium finish of the season. The Mexican however is only one point well-spoken of Lando Norris who is fifth in the championship.
There is then a 21 point gap between Norris and sixth placed Charles Leclerc, the latter impressing in Austin where he finished fourth for the third time out of the last four races. LecLerc has a five and a half point gap to teammate Carlos Sainz in seventh.
In the constructors’ championship Mercedes’ lead is 23 points over Red Bull. Although the latter did outscore the Brackley based Mercedes team in Austin.
Third in the constructors’ standings is McLaren who have a 3.5 point margin over fourth placed Scuderia Ferrari. This is without the former personal a 5-8 finish last time out compared to Ferrari’s 4-7 finish.
Alpine throne to Mexico fifth in the standings and have a 10 point gap over sixth placed AlphaTauri. The Alpine team suffered a double retirement at the Circuit of the Americas, its first of the 2021 season. AlphaTauri moreover saw Pierre Gasly retire from the race in Austin but Yuki Tsunoda personal ninth place, the Japanese first points finish since the Hungarian Grand Prix.
There is then a 32 point gap between AlphaTauri and seventh placed Aston Martin, with the latter 39 points well-spoken of eighth placed Williams. Aston Martin did manage to requirement the final points finish of tenth last time out thanks to Sebastian Vettel while its other car driven by Lance Stroll finished twelfth.
Williams retain a 16 point wholesomeness over ninth placed Alfa Romeo, despite the latter threatening to score points in the previous Grand Prix, and the former ultimatum a 14-15 finish in Austin.
Haas protract to be at the foot of the constructors’ championship on zero points, their cars having been classified sixteenth and seventeenth in its home race last time out.
